R. McKaye Enterprises Inc. is the parent company of St. Marks Discount Marine who’s principals are Ron McKaye President and Susan McKaye Vice President. This corporation was established in 1995 located here in Wakulla county. Ron McKaye is from Fort Lauderdale and Susan McKaye is a local citizen from Wakulla county and her family has been well established in this county for generations, being a Smith from Smith Creek.
In 1990 Ron and Susan McKaye moved to Wakulla county from Fort Lauderdale Florida bringing with them an established payphone distribution business called Communication Connection. Once established in Wakulla county after time Communication Connection became a major supplier of payphone equipment to payphone providers in the United States, out performing their competition. This was accomplished by providing High Quality Name Brand Payphones at DISCOUNT Prices with Very Low Margins. Even today Communication Connection is still a leader in providing Payphone equipment not just to the USA market, but also to the International payphone market.
In 1998 Ron and Susan McKaye purchased 3 1/2 acres of commercial property with a 4500 sq ft building with plenty of parking located on Main Street St. Marks Florida. In 1999 with extensive renovation Ron moved Communication Connection from Crawfordville to this new location at 483 Port Leon Drive in St. Marks. At that time he stated that this would be a Great location for a Boat Dealership one day, with all the boating traffic on a daily basis.
In 2000 Ron opened up a Gun shop at this location providing Retail Gun sales and supplies to the public as well as going to many Gun shows in North Florida. In 2003 He added a 1000 sq ft building on to the existing building to expand his Gun business, but unfortunately the demand for Guns in St. Marks was very little, being a Boating community. He continued to study the idea of a Boat Dealership possibility in St. Marks.
In 2006 Ron decided to do extensive research and a market study on the viability of selling Boats in North Florida. He contacted several Boat manufacturers in his search for the Best Manufactured Boats at the best prices with Quality and Service in mind. In 2007 he made the final commitment with Xpress, Key Largo as well as other manufacturers of High Quality Name Brand Boats. His goal was to open a Boat Dealership providing Retail Sales and Service, utilizing his Experience in providing High Quality Products at DISCOUNT Prices to the North Florida and the South Georgia Boating market.
